A toupee is a hairpiece or partial wig to cover partial baldness or for theatrical purposes. While toupees and hairpieces are typically associated with male wearers, some women also use hairpieces to lengthen existing hair, or cover a partially exposed scalp. Our men toupee is mono-filament base with poly all around perimeter. Custom-made toupees for men are our best selling products.
Advantages of Mono-filament Base
This mens toupee has a complete mono-filament base, single hair per knot giving the appearance of natural hair growth from the scalp. It is soft to the touch. Basically see through and very hard to detect. The monofilament weaving allows each strand of hair to move freely and more naturally. It has been fully HAND TIED so that the appearance is as natural as possible.

Base size is the size of the cap of a hair system. We roughly separate them into 4 types:
PARTIAL SIZE - HAIR LOSS AREAS EQUALS OR IS SMALLER THAN 4” X 4”
Cover hair loss areas equals or is smaller than 4” x 4”. In the early stages of hair loss some clients only experience hair loss is isolated areas, i.e. the front hairline or crown area as shown in the illustration below.
In these situations, a partial (smaller) system would be the most appropriate choice as the partial system could be fitted to the smaller hair loss area and blended with the clients existing hair.
Sending in a template or spare system is helpful for us to examine the pattern, size and scalp curvature of your bald area so that we can follow these details exactly when making your customized system.
If you prefer not to send us a template or a spare system, you need to take the measurements of both the base length and width and we will make your system base on a regular scalp curvature.
When you send us a template, please be reminded to mark your hair direction with a permanent marker pen on the template. It is VERY IMPORTANT for us to make your system with the correct hair direction.
REGULAR SIZE - HAIR LOSS AREA WITH SIZE LARGER THAN 4”X 4” AND UP TO 10”X 8” (OR WITHIN 80 SQUARE INCHES OF TOTAL AREA).
Hair loss area with a size larger than 4”x4” and up to 10”x8”. It is the most popular option for men with traditional male pattern baldness and covers the hair loss area on the top of the head from the front hairline to the crown as shown in the illustration below:
You may also either send us a template (or your old system) or select the exact measurements of your system base.
OVER SIZE( LARGE SIZE OR 3/4 CAP) - HAIR LOSS AREA LARGER THAN 10” X 8” AND UP TO 10” X 10”
Hair loss area larger than 10” x 8” and up to 10” x 10” covering the head from the front hair line to back of head. A Cap does not have a temple (side burn) area or nape area. The hair loss area extends further down the side and back of the head. Please refer to the illustration below:
Again, send in your template or clearly describe the measurements of your base length and width.
FULL CAP - HAIR LOSS AREAS LARGER THAN 10” X 10”
Full cap hair systems are most common with women or men who have complete hair loss( It is the best choice for chemotherapy patients who suffer severe hair loss) or prefer total coverage of the scalp. These full cap hair systems cover your entire head and most times even include side burns and nape areas. The cap size is larger than 10”x10”.
How to Measure?
Follow the instructions below to measure a partial size, regular size or larger size:
Humain Hair Care
We recommend washing your alternative hair every 6-8 wears
We do not recommend coloring or chemically altering alternative hair.
• Before washing your human hair wig or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles using your paddle brush
• Wet hair completely using cool running water. Comb through hair with your fingers several times
• If no signs of tangling/matting* occur, continue to cleanse and condition while checking for excessive tangling as you go
• If you do notice excessive tangling/matting, it may be a sign of inversion; contact your retailer or manufacturer immediately
* Tangling/matting that occurs after months of wear is due to improper care
• Before washing your human hair wig or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles using your paddle brush
• Gently lather the hair with a small amount of smooth shampoo, while making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling
• Rinse thoroughly in cool running water until the water runs clear
• Apply smooth sonditioner, avoiding the base of the wig or hairpiece (applying conditioner to the base/cap may weaken the knots)
• Using your fingers, work conditioner through mid-lengths and ends for 3-5 minutes
• Rinse thoroughly in cool running water until the water runs clear
• Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat to remove excess water
• Gently remove any tangles using your paddle brush
• Allow cap to dry completely before applying to a canvas block head
• Dampen hair again and apply a small amount of blown away blow dry balm; distribute evenly throughout hair, keeping away from base
• Starting at nape, work in 2" sections using your round boar-bristle brush and blow dry each section completely
• Use medium-high heat on full power to blow dry hair. Use the "cool shot" button to lock in style
• Human hair must be dried and styled after washing. Air-drying will leave the hair ‘un-polished’ and can trap water in the hair causing frizzing
• Blown Away Blow Dry Balm is designed as a foundation product for all human hair blow outs. All other styling products can be layered over Blown Away
• Boho Beach Mist can be used on dry hair to add texture and revitalize natural curls
• Use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat. Use no higher than 350° F to help maintain the integrity of the hair
• Use Versatile 3-Way Hair Spray to hold your finished style. Adjust nozzle to “L” for low, “M” for medium, or “H” for high hold, depending on your needs
HD | HEAT DEFIANT CARE
We recommend washing your alternative hair every 6-8 wears
• Before washing, gently remove any tangles using your wide tooth comb only
• Wet hair completely using cool running water
• Gently lather the hair with a small amount of shampoo, making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair; this will cause tangling
• Rinse thoroughly under cool running water until water runs clear
• Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat dry
• Gently detangle hair using wide tooth comb
• Spray with Leave-In Conditioning Spray (3-5 pumps) keeping away from base
• Allow wig or hairpiece to air dry naturally by placing on a plastic or wire wig stand. Do NOT blow dry
• Air drying your wig will give the best results. The fiber will dry fastest; be sure the cap is completely dry before wearing, storing, or displaying
• Apply HD Smooth Ddetangling Spray, (3-5 pumps) focusing on the bottom half of wig or hairpiece. Gently comb through using your wide tooth comb.
• HD fiber can withstand heat up to 350° F, however, just recommends working at 270°-280° F
• It is recommended to use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat
• Heat your curling or flat iron to 270°-280° F
• Starting at the nape, take ½ inch-1.5 inch sections of hair (smaller sections=tighter curls, larger sections=looser curls)
• Spray Heat Treat Thermal Spray on the section to protect the fiber (1-2 pumps per section)
CURL
• Gather hair into curling iron, smooth through to the ends. Roll iron up towards base of wig or hairpiece, staying 1-2 inches away
• Hold for 10-15 seconds, then turn the tip of iron toward the ground and release curl into palm of hand
• Holding curl in one hand, gather up towards base and secure curl with a small metal clip (like a pin curl)
• Allow curl to cool completely (about 5 minutes); remove clip and let curl hang naturally
FLAT IRON
• Starting at the nape, take ½ inch-1.5 inch sections
• Spray Heat Treat Thermal Spray on the section to protect the fiber (1-2 pumps per section)
• Slowly smooth flat iron down through ends; keep hair smooth by following behind the flat iron with your Wide Tooth Comb
• Allow hair to hang naturally and cool completely
• All synthetic fibers can tangle and frizz with wear. It is important that the frizz is corrected early to avoid permanent damage to the fiber. Use your flat iron to smooth any frizz before washing
• We recommend using HD Smooth Detangling Spray with a Wide Tooth Comb DAILY to detangle your HD wig. This is especially important with the mid-length to long length HD wigs or hairpieces
• To add texture and definition, use a small amount of Piece Out Contour Fiber Crème and apply using fingertips

• For mid-length to long length styles, apply HD Smooth Detangling Spray, (3-5 pumps) focusing on bottom half of wig or hairpiece. Gently comb through using your Wide Tooth Comb
• We recommend using your fingertips or wig brush/comb for your desired style
• To add texture and definition, use a small amount of Piece Out Contour Fiber Crème and apply using fingertips
• Do NOT use heat to style synthetic fiber (curling irons, flat irons or blow dryers)
• Be cautious when standing near a heat source (i.e. open oven, heater, etc.) Excessive heat can damage the fiber
